“A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives.”
Jackie Robinson
In the world of law enforcement few people will have a greater impact on the men and women of your agency and the profession as a whole than you, the trainer.
Academy trainers, field trainers and in-service trainers are the people who instil and sustain the culture of the agency.
You are the ones who teach new officers how to be law enforcement professionals.
You serve as role models, mentors and heroes for the men and women in your agency.
You teach the importance of humility, integrity, honour and commitment to a cause bigger than yourself.
You help them to understand the power of unconditional respect and the importance of seeing people as people.
You let them know that courage is never the absence of fear. It is the ability to come to a compromise with fear and still function at a high level in spite of the fear.
You model the power of commitment to:
- Training
- Learning
- Fitness
- Family
- And to their brother and sister officers
You give them permission to be human and to seek help when they need it.
You provide a foundation of resilience so they can not only bounce back from challenges, but bounce higher.
Your impact on the lives of the men and women you train can never be measured.
Please know that what you do is important.
Thank you for your service.
Take care.
