I recently facilitated a three day Performance Enhancement Imagery Course. One of the themes the participants heard from me throughout the three days was “Be Intentional”
Be intentional in using imagery in your life.
Be intentional in the use of imagery in your training.
Teach your officers to be intentional about their use of imagery.
Teach your FTOs or PTOs to be intentional in the use of imagery with the officers they are training.
Be intentional with the use of positive language.
As trainers, teachers and coaches “Be Intentional” should be part of your daily mantra.
Be intentional in using questions to generate discussion, engage the participants and enhance learning.
Be intentional about building critical thinking and decision making into your training.
Be intentional with your preparation for every class you teach and every presentation you do.
Be intentional regarding the strategies and practices to enhance your mind, body and craft.
Be intentional about your learning.
Be intentional about connecting the dots between what you are learning, what you already know and the material, ideas, principles and concepts you are teaching.
Be intentional about continually seeking ways to incorporate the research on learning into your teaching in order to enhance the learning, retention and recall of the material by the participants.
Be intentional about your training and developing your skills.
Be intentional about your wellness including your nutrition, your fitness, your rest and recovery and your hydration.
Being intentional requires being clear on your Why.
Being intentional requires commitment and dedication.
Being intentional requires the creation of rituals and daily practices.
Being intentional is a practice.
Being intentional can be hard.
What’s Important Now? Be Intentional. What you do is too important to leave things to chance.
Take care.
