Performance Enhancement Imagery is a course built by an experienced law enforcement officer and trainer. Brian Willis has conducted group and individual imagery sessions with over 2000 people including law enforcement officers, trainers, athletes, coaches and individuals seeking positive change in their lives. Brian has also trained hundreds of law enforcement trainers and coaches from around North America to utilize Performance Enhancement Imagery as a method of effecting powerful change in officers’ and athletes’ performance. Brian has also served as a mental preparation coach for athletes from a variety of sports including two Olympic athletes.
Imagery is a simple, effective method of harnessing the power of the mind to enhance performance. Performance Enhancement Imagery accomplishes this by focusing and directing the imagination. Performance Enhancement Imagery is a unique and comprehensive program can be utilized to enhance all aspects of physical and mental performance in physical skills training, academics, test performance, performance on the street in tense, uncertain and rapidly evolving situations and performance in athletic events.
During this course you will gain an understanding of what imagery is, how it works and why it is such a powerful performance enhancement tool. The comprehensive and interactive format of this training will allow you to learn simple methods for incorporating imagery into your training programs as well as your life. Performance Enhancement Imagery can be utilized one on one or in a group to assist people enhance their competence and confidence in any arena of performance.
In just three days you will gain an in-depth understanding of how the mind works, and how to effectively deliver imagery sessions to groups and individuals. This cutting-edge program teaches time-tested and proven techniques taught by a knowledgeable, experienced and professional instructor.
The Performance Enhancement Imagery Course covers:
The Mind: This component forms the foundation of the program and will explain how the mind works to process, store and retrieve information. It provides an in-depth understanding of the roles of the conscious and subconscious mind. Often, training programs and coaching sessions are focused at the level of the conscious mind, however in high stress events, rapidly evolving events or spontaneous events it is the subconscious mind that determines our response. This program provides participants with the tools to assist them in creating the most desirable subconscious mental programs in themselves and the people they train and coach.
Performance Enhancement Imagery: This component makes up the greatest part of the course. It begins by examining exactly what imagery is, and why it is so effective. The key elements to conducting successful Performance Enhancement Imagery sessions along with the wide variety of ways Performance Enhancement Imagery can be used with both groups and individuals are covered in depth. In addition to learning how to use Performance Enhancement Imagery course participants will be provided scripts to guide them through imagery sessions. During the course participants will develop their own scripts and practice developing and delivering an imagery session in a safe and supportive learning environment.
Self-Talk: The most important conversations we will ever have are with ourselves, about ourselves, in the privacy of our own mind. It is important that people become aware of their self-talk as it can be either positive and productive, or negative and destructive. Self talk helps to establish and reinforce programs in the subconscious mind. Once people become aware of their self-talk they can change it to ensure it is most desirable.
The Power of Words: The emphasis throughout this course will be the use of positive based language to create expectations of success in yourself and others. Much of the language used in our everyday communication is negative based and it may be creating less desirable programming at the subconscious level.
Imagery and Debriefings: Debriefings following scenario training, actual calls or athletic events is a tremendous opportunity to learn from the experience and improve future performance. Imagery can play a vital role in creating effective and lasting learning through debriefings.
Imagery and Video: Many trainers and coaches use videos in their programs. When used effectively and combined with imagery these videos can program officers and athletes for future success. When used inappropriately you can program them for failure.
Performance Anxiety: Test and performance anxiety create a number of issues for people from every walk of life. One of the greatest areas of anxiety is for law enforcement is firearms qualification. Performance Enhancement Imagery has helped hundreds of law enforcement professionals around North America overcome this anxiety and qualify easily and consistently. Performance Enhancement Imagery can also be used to help individuals who are anxious about written exams, promotional interviews, public speaking or that opponent or venue that always haunts them.
