My airline of choice for flying to the US from Canada is United. On the planes that have televisions the lead in for the safety briefings a message from the CEO of United thanking all military veterans for their service. They go on to profile employees of United Airlines who have prior military service. When they pre-board the airplane they always start with Global Service (the super elite fliers) and active duty military personnel. I applaud this recognition of the men and women who serve in our armed forces and would like to add my thanks for their service.
I am always left to wonder however. Why airlines (or other corporations) never thank the brave men and women of law enforcement for their service? Why airlines do not offer law enforcement professionals pre-boarding? Why are there no messages from corporate CEO’s thanking you for what you do?
So, I want to thank you. I want to thank you for choosing to serve your country and your community as a law enforcement professional. I want to thank you for the sacrifices you make so you can serve. I would like to thank your families for serving their communities by supporting you.
I would like to thank you for accepting the additional mantle of responsibility and serving the law enforcement profession as a trainer. You get very little thanks and recognition for what you do as a law enforcement professional and even less thanks and recognition for what you do as a trainer. What you do is important. What you do impacts lives, changes lives and saves lives. You will never know how many lives you save, but know there are officers alive today because of what you do.
Thank you for your service. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for your commitment. Thank you for your passion. Thank you for being a law enforcement professional and a trainer.
Take care.
