“What we hope ever to do with ease, we must learn first to do with diligence.”
Samuel Johnson
What does this Samuel Johnson quote have to do with you as a trainer? Everything.
What you now do with ease your recruits must learn first to do with diligence.
What you now do with ease many of your inservice officers must still do with diligence.
What you now do with ease, you first learned to do with diligence.
What you now do with ease is a result of hundreds, or thousands of hours of training, practice, refinement, teaching and mental rehearsal. You were not always able to perform those skills with ease.
The point of all this? Have patience with your officers. They must first learn with diligence. They must then develop the passion and desire to get better so they will practice to the point where they too can do with ease.
Take care.
