“You will never find the best when you are always looking for the worst.”
You will never find the best in the people you are training if you are always looking for the worst.
You will never find the best in your peers if you are always looking for the worst.
You will never find the best in society if you are always looking for the worst.
You will never find the best in your children if you are always looking for the worst.
You will never find the best in yourself if you are always looking for the worst.
You will never find the best lesson in a challenging situation of you are always looking for the worst.
The nature of the law enforcement profession is that you go out looking for people doing something wrong. You spend a career preparing and training for the ‘worst case’ scenario. It is easy to fall into the habit of taking this view into your offices, your training rooms and your homes and find yourself continually looking for the worst in people and situations.
You need to learn how to turn that off and look for the best. Look for the best in the people your train. look for the best in your peers. Look for the best in the challenges you are facing. Look for the best in your children and your suppose. Look for the best in yourself.
You might be surprised at what you find when you start to look for the best.
