Get the Best Out of Yourself

“You get the best out of others when you get the best out of yourself.”
Harvey Firestone

What are you doing to get the best out of yourself?

What books are you reading? What courses are you taking? Who are the five people in your life you spend the most time with? What questions are you asking? What associations do you belong to?

What information outside the world of law enforcement are you tapping into to make you a better teacher, a better presenter, a better trainer? When was the last time you updated and improved your presentations? When was the last time you updated your lesson plans? When was the last time you read course critiques with an eye to improving your presentation?

What are you doing to learn about adult education principles and how they apply to your courses? What are you doing to improve your storytelling abilities to enhance the learning experience for your course participants? What are you doing to learn about platform skills to become a better professional speaker? What are you doing to learn from people like Garr Reynolds and Nancy Duarte about making your visual presentations more powerful and more impactful?

“As a coach, your high standards of performance, attention to detail and-above all-how hard you work set the stage for how your players perform.”
Don Shula

Take care.
