“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” Albert Einstein
“There are no such things as limits to growth, because there are no limits on the human capacity for intelligence, imagination, and wonder.” Ronald Reagan
As you read the above quotes do you imagine how they apply to your training programs?
“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” Albert Einstein
Does logic and reason dominate your sessions or do you inspire the participants in your programs to tap into their powerful imagination?
Do you tap into your imagination when you are developing your lesson plans, presentations, exercises and scenarios?
“Imagination grows by exercise, and contrary to common belief, is more powerful in the mature than in the young.” Paul McCartney
Do you allow your participants to imagine how they would solve problems, win confrontations, and use the skills you taught? Do you allow the participants in your programs to imagine themselves winning confrontations in the field, the courtroom and in their personal lives? Do you allow officers to imagine getting shot, stabbed, slashed or injured and staying focused, staying in the fight, winning the fight, self treating injuries and going home to their families?
“The unlimited potential of childhood and the tight constraints of adulthood originate and reside primarily in the imagination.” Dennis Waitley
Do you allow yourself to imagine that participants in your program will come up with solutions and options that you never thought of to scenarios you create?
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of Life’s coming attractions.” Albert Einstein
Do you use imagery in your training to help program your officers for success at the subconscious level? Do you build imagery into the use of videos and debriefings in your programs?
Imagination can be the most powerful part of any program if we allow people to use their imagination and help focus and direct it to successful outcomes. Imagine the many ways you can build imagery into your programs for the betterment of your personnel.
Take care.
